Belgian Week in Bucharest presented the Belgian food industry to Romanian food importers, food producers, researchers and journalists. The export of Belgian food has grown steadily over the past years. In 2015 Belgian food companies exported 67 million worth of goods. More than a quarter of the export consists of Belgian meat, another quarter consists of fresh and processed vegetables. Processed grains and cacao products are other important Belgian export products. In 2015 37 million euro worth of goods were imported from Romania, with grains being the most important import product. In 2015 the import from Romania doubled compared to previous years.

During the Belgian week, chef Alex Verhoeven from restaurant Fleur du Sel served Belgian meals and chocolatier Laurent Gerbaud instructed a chocolate workshop.
