Paulig celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. Founded in 1876, the company has grown into an international player, active in 13 countries and reaching 80 markets worldwide. In Belgium, Paulig is established in Roeselare, as one of the country’s largest food companies. What does the future hold? Strong sustainability ambitions.
Clear climate ambitions: Paulig aims to reduce its emissions by 2030
For 150 years, Paulig has been shaping a sustainable food culture and intends to keep doing so in the years ahead. “Our ambition is to become one of Europe’s fastest-growing food and beverage companies, as well as a sustainability leader in the sector,” explains CEO Rolf Ladau. This ambition will be realised by developing existing and new products that inspire consumers to make more sustainable choices.
By 2030, Paulig aims to reduce both its operational emissions and those across its entire value chain by 43%, compared with 2018. The company is also enhancing the recyclability of its packaging, while ensuring it helps prevent food and coffee waste. These actions contribute to the global objective of reducing food waste by 50% across the value chain by 2030.
Creating jobs
Paulig is not typically associated with traditional Belgian cuisine... but rather with Mexican or Asian flavours! Paulig operates Europe’s largest Tex-Mex production facility, located in our country, in Roeselare, West-Flanders. And that creates jobs! This facility employs approximately 900 people, who are responsible for the daily production of around 6 million wraps and 1 million bags of tortilla chips.
