Honorary doctorate for Margaret Bath of Kellogg Company


On 30 October, KU Leuven’s Faculty of Bioscience Engineering conferred an honorary doctorate on Margaret Bath, Senior Vice President Research, Quality and Technology at the Kellogg Company. The university honoured Ms Bath as a proponent of the ‘triple helix’ model. The ‘triple helix’ model values close bonds between university, industry and government in an innovative society and scientific research.

Bernard Deryckere, also CEO of Alpro, was honoured with this Honory Knighthood for his contribution to the promotion of Belgian food and his efforts to stimulate the growth of the Belgian food industry via exports. As one of the founding fathers of the concept “ – Small country. Great food”, he proved to be a real ambassador for the quality and excellence of Belgian food thereby acknowledging that Belgian beers – famous throughout the world for their diversity, taste and excellent quality – are real pioneers for the Belgian food industry as a whole.

The “Superior Taste Award” is a worldwide label for taste by the most renowned international Chefs and Sommeliers. Among the 1239 food and drink products that were tested by a jury of 120 experts (renowned European Chefs and Sommeliers), 926 different products were awarded. Several Belgian food products also were rewarded with a Superior Taste Award of one, two or three golden stars.
