Danone wins Investment of the Year Trophy

On the 9th of Februari, the French food group Danone won the ‘Investment of the Year Trophy’ on the occasion of the third ‘Foreign Investment Trophy’, an initiative of Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT). With the Trophy, the Flemish Agency for International Enterprise wants to award a prize to foreign investors who durably fortify the Flemish economic fabric.

Vanparys celebrates its 125th birthday

The Belgian Company Vanparys celebrated its 125th anniversary on Tuesday December 2.  This jubilee year was celebrated with a visit to the company’s production center by H.R.H Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Rudi Vervoort, prime minister of the Brussels Metropolitan Government.

The Salon International de l'Agroalimentaire (SIAL), Europe's largest food industry trade show, took place in Paris, from 19 to 23 October 2014.

With over 250 food companies attending SIAL, the Belgian food industry was well represented and offered visitors a taste of the best Belgium has to offer. As true ambassadors of the quality, diversity and innovation of Belgian food, the Belgian stands proud showed off the Food.be brand.

And the winner of the World Beer Award 2014 is… a Belgian beer!

The world’s best beer is once again a Belgian beer. “Tongerlo Blond” from the Haacht Brewery. “Tongerlo Blond” has been elected out of 8 different category winners (Dark beer, Flavoured beer, Lager, Pale beer, Sour beer, Speciality beer, Stout and Porter and Wheat beer) and may now carry the coveted title of World’s Best Beer.    
Brewery Haacht is an independent Belgian family brewer and employs 400 people.

The world’s biggest ‘chocolate school’ is located in Belgium

Belgium not only has the biggest chocolate factory in the world, but Callebaut now opened a brand new Chocolate Academy in the village of Wieze where Callebaut’s story began in 1911. And indeed.. the new flagship Chocolate Academy centre is the biggest  in a current network of 16 Chocolate Academy centres worldwide, from Mexico and Canada to Poland and China.
